The regional study is important to provide support for understanding the organizational dynamics of geographical space, in this case specifically for a particular crop space, the Southwest Region of Bahia. The objective of this study is to describe this geographic region, trying explain it in terms of physical, human and economic. The research was done by statistical data and studies of the physical environment, supported by systematizations previously performed on this region. The data presented allow an analysis and observation of hierarchical power that the city of Vitoria da Conquista exercises in relation to other municipalities in the region, a city that presents itself as a pole in the very important regional organization of space, especially under the economic character. So the relevance of this work is the systematization of information that is without proper planning, a fact which complicates the conduct of research on the region

O estudo regional é importante no sentido de fornecer subsídios para a compreensão da dinâmica organizacional do espaço geográfico, neste caso especificamente de um determinado recorte espacial, a Região Sudoeste da Bahia. O objetivo deste trabalho é descrever geograficamente esta região, buscando explicá-la em seus aspectos físicos, humanos e econômicos. A pesquisa foi feita através de dados estatísticos e estudos do meio físico, fundamentada por sistematizações anteriormente realizadas sobre a referida região. Os dados apresentados permitem uma análise e constatação do poder hierárquico que a cidade de Vitória da Conquista exerce em relação aos demais municípios da região, cidade que, apresentando-se como um pólo muito importante na organização do espaço regional, principalmente sob o caráter econômico. Portanto a relevância deste trabalho está na sistematização de informações que se encontram sem o devido ordenamento, fato esse que dificulta a realização de pesquisas sobre a região.
