RAFAEL DE ESPAÑA - Director

(M. D. and Ph. D.). Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona. He is Adjunct Director of the Centre for Cinematic Research FILM-HISTORIA (Scientific Park of Barcelona), and current Editor of the journal FILMHISTORIA Online.
Author of numerous essays on historical films and the books The Spanish Cinema: An Historical Approach (1987), Directory of Spanish and Portuguese Filmmakers and Films (1994), El Peplum: La antigüedad en el cine (1998), El cine de Goebbels (2000), Las sombras del Encuentro. España y América: cuatro siglos de Historia a través del Cine (2002), Breve historia del western mediterráneo (2002), Balcázar Producciones Cinematográficas: Más allá de Esplugas City (2005), De La Mancha a la pantalla. Aventuras cinematográficas del ingenioso hidalgo (2006, 2007), and La pantalla épica. Los héroes de la Antigüedad vistos por el cine (2009).
Member of the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciencies, he has lectured in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Israel, and Japan.
