- Fundador y Editor

(Ph. D.). Professor of Contemporary History and Film at the University of Barcelona, Director of the Centre for Cinematic Research FILM-HISTORIA (Scientific Park of Barcelona), and Founding Editor of the journal FILMHISTORIA. A specialist on the cinema of the Second Republic, he has published 40 books, including Arte y política en el cine de la República (1981), El cine español bajo el régimen de Franco (1983), El cine español de la democracia (1992), 100 grandes directores del cine (1994, 1995), 100 películas sobre Historia Contemporánea (1997, 2004), La guerra de Vietnam, entre la historia y el cine (1998), Historia del cine español (1999, 2007), Estudios sobre el cine español del franquismo (2000), El cine de fin de milenio (2001), Breve historia del cine americano (2002), La cuestión irlandesa y el IRA (2003), Historia del cine europeo (2003), Una historia del cine a través de ocho maestros (2003), El cine del nuevo siglo (2004), La Pantalla Popular. El cine español durante el Gobierno de la derecha (2005), Guía del espectador de cine (2007), Woody Allen, barcelonés accidental (2008), and Historia del Cine Mundial (2009). He was vice-president of the International Association for Media and History (IAMHIST, Oxford), and is member of the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciences, and Acadèmia del Cinema Català. He has lectured in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Turkey, Morocco, Israel, and Russia.
