JOSÉ MARÍA CAPARRÓS-LERA (Ph. D.). Professor of Contemporary History and Film at the University of Barcelona, Director of the Centre for Cinematic Research FILM-HISTORIA (Scientific Park of Barcelona), and Founding Editor of the journal FILMHISTORIA. A specialist on the cinema of the Second Republic, he has published twenty-five books, including El cine español de la democracia (1992), 100 grandes directores del cine (1994), 100 peliculas sobre Historia Contemporánea (1997), La guerra de Vietnam, entre la historia y el cine (1998), Historia crítica del cine español (1999), Estudios sobre el cine español del franquismo (2000), and El cine de fin de milenio (2001). He was vice-president of the International Association for Media and History (IAMHIST, Oxford), and is member of the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciences. He has lectured in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Turkey, Morocco, Russia, and Israel.
